Besides that, a bit faster moving around because the will zero turn. Way less noticeable when hot at 1/4 throttle. Mine doesn't track straight until 3/4+ throttle when cold. My hydro's have been replaced before I bought it. I will say that if it was going to be a production machine and run full time, it would be a Cat. I do have a spare set on the shelf just in case I ever need them though. I have not had any tracking issues or problems with the hydros at all. This is my third dozer and my previous machines were both Cats (neither differential steer ). I have a 750B and it is a great all around machine. Get some pressure gauges and check the hydrostat pressures. I believe those hydros were built by Sundstrand and they may have some information. If the seller allows, try operating from cold to hot and notice any differences then. I worked on these the first year they came out, and I don't recall any specific test for a failed hydro. This is a control box that will adjust the swash plate of the drive motor independently of the pump motor that adjusts the hydro to maintain engine rpm. If the dozer in question has "cruise control" for lack of a better definition, dropping the blade and trying to stall the hydro won't work. Just one year with a combine, and it did fine. Limited experience with hydrostatic drive machines here. Bad hydro=high rpms, no spinning, and no forward progress.īut is there a way to spot one that is starting to go bad, or do they run great until the day they die. I would assume you could pick out a real bad one by dropping the blade, and observing engine rpms, spinning of the track, and forward progress. How do you assess the condition of a hydro on a dozer? Repairing hydrostats probably cost less then a Powershift, torque converter, steering clutches and brakes, and final drives. The good: Dozer is a lot more productive then a similar model with clutch steering. Posted 12:06 (#1459473) Subject: John Deere DozerĪnything good or bad to say about the Hydrostatic drive on these?
